Legislator Brian Scavo has put forth resolution 371.
Requesting the county executive to take steps to establish a regional bottled water filtration facility to raise revenue. Unanimously approved by the public works committee.
To work in cooperation with other municipalities.

Legislator Brian Scavo said” During these tough economic times government must look for opportunities  to raise revenues other then fee’s or taxes, what better way then to capitalize on our large water supply in Albany county, we as legislators must move Albany county away from being a taxing entity to a money making entity,   case in point the times union center and the Albany county airport all show a profit for the taxpayers of Albany county.”

Lawmaker Brian Scavo also said” The bottled water industry has shown great success and there is no reason why Albany county can not do the same to generate money for the taxpayers of Albany county and perhaps joining in a joint venture with other municipalities to take advantage of our great abundance of natural fresh water..”

Legislator Brian Scavo said today” The 370 million dollar rate increase National Grid plans to charge upstate New York and Albany County is just another opportunity buster, which will drive business out of upstate New York it’s bad enough national grid charges consumers twice for the same charge on their bills {supply and delivery}  national grid is a monopoly that is out of control and greedy.

Lawmaker Brian Scavo also called upon Governor Patterson and the public service commission to reject this opportunity buster rate increase and protect our consumers and business’s in upstate New York, hopefully our assemblymen and our state senator will forward with the Albany County Renewable Energy Commission, Time to start creating jobs and move forward with lower utility rates.
